Finding flexible job opportunities can seem relatively easy these days. Finding job opportunities that are flexible enough to fit around a parent's schedule is a whole different story.

There are many jobs that claim to be super flexible with their schedule. Which may be true. But many of these opportunities are not the type of flexible that lets you accomplish tasks during nap time or when the kids fall asleep for the night.

The jobs that we have found here are a way to make a pretty good income, while being flexible enough that you are able to work when it is convenient for you.

Search Engine Evaluator

Search Engine Evaluation is the main avenue of extra income that we have taken up to this point in our parenting journey. This has been our primary source of side income and the way that we have made the most money.

Being a search engine evaluator consists of rating search results for queries that people search for. The tasks are fairly repetitive. So, if that is not something you enjoy, then this might not be the best thing for you.

Rating tasks are assigned to you in the rating app. You log in whenever it is convenient for you and complete tasks as you are able. Many programs require you to meet a minimum number of hours (usually 10-15 per week), but you are able to complete these hours whether it is noon or 3 AM.

Website Tester

Website Testing is another viable option for parents looking for very flexible job options. You get paid to browse through websites and give your honest feedback about how the website looks and how easy it is to use and navigate.

When you work on the tests, you will need to speak your thoughts and opinions as you are browsing through the site. So, you will need a microphone to complete these jobs (and a quiet place so that you don't wake the kids!).

There is a chance to make a decent income from these tests. The pay range for completing a test depends on the length and the site that you go through, but they could range on average from $5-$60 per test.

Some of the most popular website testing companies include UserTesting, UTest, and Userlytics.

Transcription

If you can type fast and have a great attention to detail, then transcription right be the way to go. You listen to audio files and then type out everything that is said in the files.

It takes a lot of listening, and re-listening sometimes to completely understand what is being said. Which can get frustrating at times. But, if you have the patience and the speed, then this can be a very helpful way to make extra income.

Some sites require you to purchase a foot pedal, which helps control the audio files and speeds up your production. All of them require you to pass an initial test as well to make sure that your skills are suitable for transcribing.

Online Tutoring

Online tutoring is another great job that allows you to set your own schedule to work when it's convenient for you. This is a great opportunity if you are a teacher (or former teacher). But, even if you are not a teacher, if are a master in any subject then you are able to be an online tutor.

The most common way to tutor online is to be set up in a video call or chat and walk students through homework problems that they might have. However, there are even more flexible options available where students post homework questions, and you make a video describing the steps to solve the problems. No interactions at all and you can answer the problems at any time you can.

This is one of the best options for teachers or people with a great teaching ability to make a good amount of income on the side of their normal daytime job.

Some of the most popular places to get into online tutoring include tutor.com, Skooli, and Varsity Tutors.

Teaching English Online

Another similar option to Online Tutoring, is to teach English Online. These sites are mainly set up for native English speakers to teach kids from China how to speak English.

You will be on a video call with a group of children from China and you will teach them different skills to help them learn to speak English. Another great job for teachers or people that have a great teaching ability.

Many of these sites allow you to set your own schedule and take on as many "classes" as you can. You might have to be available at specific times though, and you must be available at decent times in China, which ends up being early morning hours. This is good and bad, because these are times when the rest of the house is most likely sleeping, but it also cuts into your own sleeping time.

Some of the popular sites to teach English Online include VIPKid, QKids, and Magic Ears.

FlexJobs

This is not a job, but a way to find some flexible jobs that you might be looking for. FlexJobs is a job board that posts work from home and flexible schedule jobs. All their jobs are pre-screened to make sure that they are legit opportunities.

The board isn't free, but it gives you a great opportunity to view jobs that might not be posted elsewhere and be more suited to work from home and be flexible for your schedule.

There is no guarantee that you find something on here, or it might take you a little while to find something that is a perfect fit for your schedule. But there are a lot of great opportunities on here that are tailored to a stay-at-home parent work style.

Final Thoughts

There are a lot of great opportunities out there to make some extra income. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of searching and effort to find the right one.
